A True Birthday Surprise
It was recently my birthday and I wanted to say thanks to anyone who offered their wishes. I am always flattered when someone outside of my family remembers my birthday since I don’t go around advertising it, so thank you for an awesome day. Presents are always a fun way to celebrate your birthday, and even though I got wonderful gifts, there were some gifts that I was completely shocked by and really wanted to thank some people.
1.) Daylight Savings Time - Wow. I get an extra hour today? I don’t know what to say. That’s so thoughtful. My first instinct would be to thank George Vernon Hudson, the person credited with creating modern DST, but I guess I should thank the year 1895, because if that idea was presented in today’s time, I am sure someone saying, “Hey can we make time shift backwards and then forwards a couple times a year,” would either be in a mental ward or running for the Delware Senate seat.
2.) Conan’s Return to National Television - Conan was the first real late night show I ever got into. He was so awkward and funny and not-Leno-or-Letterman. Thank you TBS for offering a gig to Conan on my birthday. And also, thank you for letting him call the show just ‘Conan’ and not ‘Tyler Perry’s Meet Conan O’brien With Crazy Canned Laughter.’
3.) The American Community Survey - Thanks Department of Commerce. Nothing says happy birthday like filling out a survey with questions like “how many people rode in said car to this persons work last week.” You’re the greatest.
Thanks for a great day everyone.
